Sephardic Council of America

We are a proud group of Sephardic Rabbis and community leaders from across the United States who cherish the traditions, teachings and customs that have been transmitted down throughout the generations of our illustrious history . 

 

Our singular objective is to restore to its rightful place the various Sephardic traditions -with all it's colors and customs- and to ensure that it will not be forgotten by our descendants.  Our Sages , Fathers , Mothers  and Teachers throughout the centuries devoted their entire  lives and toiled endlessly to not forsake nor take for granted the supreme honor of being a Sephardic Jew.  

 

There is no doubt our task is sacred .  

 

With Hashem Yithbarach’s help we will succeed and make our beloved ancestors proud . Our precious children and grandchildren will be the beneficiaries of our work . 

 

To achieve this most important objective , we must unite together as one Sephardic community with the unstinting determination , ingenuity and strength to uplift Sephardim across America and to enable their equal participation and influence in the most vital areas of religious life .  

 

​​Sephardic Rabbis, Hazzanim, Gabaim and Laymen who faithfully deal with their respective congregations and individual congregants 24/7 and 365 days/year regularly provide the most vital services needed for proper communal function .

  

They include Brit-Mila, Pidyon, Bar-Mitzvah, Marriage, Get and many other areas within the cycle of Jewish life. 

 

Often they are met in the broader Jewish world with a skepticism borne from a perspective that simply does not fully respect the aforementioned ideals .  Furthermore , the very established and politically-powerful organizations ,who for decades  have wielded their considerable influence over matters pertaining to both their communities’ religious dealings — and ours— simply cannot be entrusted to fully respect ,and more importantly,  safeguard our most beautiful and authentic Sephardic Torah values .

The Sephardic Council of America (SCA) will lead the way in restoring the dignity and respect that is long overdue . There isn’t a Sephardic leader or layman that does not understand or appreciate the importance of this undertaking. We’ve all witnessed the marginalization that has rachmana litzlan become accepted as reality over the course of time .  

 

Fortunately , with the help of the Ribono Shel Olem , things are about to change.  

We will rise to fulfill what every Sephardic leader from the Rambam onward preached and lived for . With absolute unity we will overcome any and all obstacles towards realizing our precious goal . 

 

 On a practical note , the Sephardic Council of America’s website will also serve as a vital tool to unite all of us.  Those looking for a partner to share their thoughts and seek counsel on daily issues will find the vast resources of SCA to be invaluable .
